Requirements and application

Entry Requirements

Applicants to AKCENT IH Prague Delta Modules courses should:

  1. Have a minimum of two years‘ full-time (1200 hours) teaching experience of ELT to adults within the past five years and will normally have a range of teaching experience involving work in different contexts. Experience with students at different levels is essential.
  2. Have a standard of education which would allow entry to Higher Education in their country. They will normally have undertaken some formal course of training in ELT to adults at either a pre-service or early in-service level (e.g. CELTA or Trinity ESOL Certificate).
  3. Have a competence in English, both written and spoken, that enables them to follow the course and complete all assessed elements successfully, generally at C1/2 level according to the European Common Reference Framework (e.g. Cambridge Advanced or Proficiency exam level). If you have any doubts as to whether your language level would meet these requirements, please contact us for advice.

To apply for the course

You should complete the Module 1, 2 or both application form which includes some tasks to test your awareness of language and methodology, and submit this along with 2 lesson plans (details given in the application form)
or the Module 3 registration form

If the application and plans are satisfactory, you will be invited to take part in an interview which may be face-to-face (if you are located in Prague) or by Skype or telephone. The purpose of the interview is to ascertain if you have the level of methodological awareness and critical thinking that the course demands and also to discuss the content and organisation of the course. This is an opportunity for candidates to ask questions about it. The interview usually takes 1.5 – 2 hours.

Places on courses are allocated on a first-come-first-served basis and we reco registration formmmend applying between 6 months and 1 month before the course starts.
