The AKCENT IH Prague language school has been operating since 1990. Since then, we have become one of the largest private schools in the Czech Republic. Our team consists exclusively of experienced and qualified Czech and foreign teachers. AKCENT IH Prague offers courses in English, German, Czech for foreigners, Spanish, French, Italian, and Chinese. We also organize courses for English teachers, including Cambridge CELTA, DELTA, TKT, IH VYL, IHCYLT, IH BET, and others. We also hold methodology courses for teaching professionals.
In 2000, our school became a member of the International House World Organisation.

The goal of the AKCENT International House Prague language school is to raise the standards of language education for the public and improve the methodological level of teachers in line with the goals of the International House World Organisation.

Our team

The AKCENT International House Prague language school team consists of more than 100 teachers and administrative staff. All teachers are highly trained in methodology and continuously expand their qualifications. The selection of teachers (both Czech and foreign) is also subject to strict criteria. The emphasis placed on the theoretical training and practical experience of teachers exceeds standard requirements.

Teacher certification

• AKCENT IH Prague has a team of qualified professional foreign language teachers. Our teacher qualification requirements meet IHWO standards. Native speakers are graduates of accredited methodology courses (CELTA, TRINITY TESOL). 
• Czech teachers are graduates of specialized studies at faculties of arts or education.

Over 15% of our English teachers have the highest internationally recognized qualification for teachers of English as a foreign language – DELTA.

Class observation system
All teachers are regularly observed, on average twice a year. Class observations are carried out by a team of trained methodologists. The criteria for evaluating the quality of teaching are in line with the standards applicable in the International House World Organisation international school network.

Regular training of teachers
During the academic year, internal seminars for teachers are held three times a month. The workshops are led by the academic management of the language school or guests from other institutions. The content of the workshops is usually based on potential problem areas identified during classroom observations.

Facilities for teachers
We provide our teachers with a standard working environment and suitable conditions for professional development. Our teachers have access to a staff room with technical facilities (internet, copiers, printers) and a well-stocked library (almost 3,000 books, supplementary and multimedia materials).

Association of Language Schools of the Czech Republic

The AKCENT International House Prague language school is a founding member of the Association of Language Schools of the Czech Republic, which changed its name to ACERT – Association of Certified Language Schools in May 2010.
In 2015, the association was replaced by AJŠ – Association of Language Schools. AJŠ is an independent professional association of companies engaged in foreign language teaching in the Czech Republic. The aim of the association is to develop the quality of services on the language education market for the mutual benefit of language schools and their students.
